Some Onaments Close Up

I am so delighted at how well these came out. All the ornaments that I have been painting are from a huge bag of solid wood scraps. I've screwed little screw eyes into them so they can hang. I have LOTS more coming.
This first set is of little mushroom pals.

Painting Weekend

I spent all weekend painting my nesting doll and some Christmas ornaments. A few of them are depicted above. I'll be posting to the shop all week. I finished the bunny layer of the nesting doll and decided to repaint the bird gold. There's only the raccoon one remaining. The ornaments above are of a mushroom and some acorns.

Nesting Doll Update

This is a horrible picture, I apologize. It's late at night, I'm deliriously sleepy, but eager to share. I'll have a better one taken in daylight without tungsten lighting in a few days ~ Hopefully this weekend. The outermost nest is a big, minty green mushroom. The next layer is a not so scary bear. Then there are two more which you are going to see later. And theeeeen the smallest is a white bird. Other projects on my agenda for this weekend include some Christmas ornaments and maybe some holiday cards.

Arctic Poppy Pixy Hat

O.k. I know I'm pretty scattered around here and I promised more on that bear today, but I'm shifting the bear to Tuesday and I have my knitted pixie hat to show off today. I'm thrilled about how it came out. I'm working on an earflap one right now. The Arctic Poppy one is newly listed in the shop right now.

Work In Progress

EEEEEEee! I'm so excited about this!!! This is all I can show you now, but it will pan out in a few days. I'll post again on Sunday to show you more. Also some other goings on. My website is seriously neglected. It's lame that I even give out business cards with the web address on it. You know when an idea gets you so amped that it overwhelms you? That's sort of what happened there. I want to put so much on it that I just keep putting it off. I also decided to to switch over from www.marystreacle.com to www.marylouiseart.com. I'm still keeping the Treacle name at my Etsy boutique though. It's kind of late at night and I'm getting REALLY sleepy. This post probably doesn't make much sense. I'll try this again on Sunday.

Lot's of New Jewelry

I've been super productive jewelry~wise lately. Unfortunately, I've been lacking at creating imagery. I've been sketching a lot though and will hopefully switch gears after I get all this posted in the Treacle Shop this week. I'll try REALLY hard to keep progresses posted here as I go.
These first two necklaces are made from buttons.
The green one, I wanted to keep simple. The button is metal and enameled. I used gunmetal chain and findings

The yellow button necklace looks like a cake to me. I actually named it the Fondant button necklace in my store. The button on top is vintage and glass. The chain and findings are brass.

The Ching Shi bracelet is named after a female pirate from the early 19th Century. Read more about her here It wraps twice around the wrist and the beads are opaque Czech glass. It can also be a tight necklace if you reall really wanted it to be.

The Mata Hari Earrings are named after the exotic dancer Mata Hari You can read more about her here. These earrings are made from verdigris patinaed drop shaped, brass filigree stampings. I hung a clear blue glass briolette in their centers. The ear wire is raw brass.

I made the peacock feather necklace by trimming and adapting the feather into a pendant with crimp beads. The chain is tiny, delicate, and brass. This necklace has a vintage, white glass ball, pinch clasp.

The Floret hair clip was made from stacking and manipulating different brass flowers.I placed a sparkly crystal bead in the center.

This is my Magical Companion Unicorn Necklace. The chain is gold filled. The clasp is vintage and the unicorn is verdigris patinaed brass. I might make another one of these for myself. I like it so much.

I might call this the Mrs. Roper.

Happy Halloween

Yes, this is the day after, but I hope yours went wonderfully. Mine was pretty good. Neptune was a Space Monkey.

We went to an actual pumpkin patch to get our pumpkins. It was so beautiful!

These are the ones we decided to bring home. Chad and I favored the mottled green ones this year. Fortunately in the pacific northwest, they will keep fresh outside through Thanksgiving. Where I lived before in Southern California,my Jack-o-lanterns would practically mold as I put the knife in.

I love the little green, new sprouting pumpkin bubbles on this vine. It makes me want to try growing pumpkins in my back yard ~ I definitely live in the right climate for it

There was even a peacock there!

Some Things

There will be a shop update this weekend. I'll be posting some new versions of the block prints that are already in there and some more of the original Sea life paintings. Also a new bracelet or two and a scarf. I've been knitting like crazy. Things have been slow around here because of it. Knitting = Time suckage. I love to do it though, it's so meditative for me. The scarf that is going in is the coral and gold one in the previous entry. The one in this photo wont be done until next weekend. Other goals to be complete for my update are:

~ 2 Button Necklaces
~ Some Peacock Necklaces and/or hair clips
~ A new Block Print or 2 (I'm thinking Falcons, Crows, Polar Bears)

Also...
Autumn has started to arrive in Seattle !!
We had hail yesterday and the temperature outside has started dipping into the 40's :)
Fall is my favorite here. I'll post some pretty turning trees later.
These pictures don't really reflect that but I wanted to share them

Carnivorous Plants

Chad and I have some new additions to our household. A new sun dew, pitcher plant, fly trap, and bladder wort. Our friend Preston tends to a large collection of carnivorous plants and was kind enough to give us a few. We usually can't have plants or flowers in our house because Paddles (our cat) eats them. I'm so thrilled that these are in their own glass tank, protected from his bad habits. I love what Chad has done with pieces of our Playmobil collection

Cobra Lily

Playmobil Mary and Chad in our Toxic Waste Clean-up Suits. Playmobil Chad has a even has a respirator! That's the Bladder Wort in front. It's still young and will eventually grow much larger.

Whoop'n It Up Friday Night

I'm working on these three projects simultaneously right now. When I get bored with one I move on to another. I thought I should post some tid bits. Hopefully I'll have some complete pictures to show by Sunday. I haven't been sleeping enough and my wrists and hands are getting sore.
